A young silver dragon and a forest brownie team up with an orphaned boy on a journey through the Himalayas mountain range called the Rim of Heaven. They are on a mission to find a new safe home for the dragons. All the while they are also hunted by a dragon-killing monster.

It was announced in June 2017 that production had begun on an animated adaptation of Cornelia Funke’s novel. In May 2018, it was announced that Felicity Jones, Patrick Stewart, Freddie Highmore, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Nonso Anozie, Meera Syal and Sanjeev Bhaskar joined the voice cast of Dragon Rider.
Felicity Jones (age 37) is an English actress who started her professional acting career as a child, appearing at age 12 in The Treasure Seekers (1996). Her film credits include Northanger Abbey (2007), Chéri (2009), The Tempest (2010), The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), True Story (2015), Inferno (2016), A Monster Calls (2016) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016). She received a special jury prize at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival for her performance in the 2011 film Like Crazy. In 2014, her performance as Jane Hawking in The Theory of Everything garnered her nominations for the Golden Globe, SAG, BAFTA and Academy Award for Best Actress. In 2016, Felicity Jones received the BAFTA Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year.
Freddie Highmore (age 28) is an English actor who made his debut in the comedy film Women Talking Dirty (1999). He is known for the films Finding Neverland (2004), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), August Rush (2007), and The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008). Highmore won two consecutive Critics’ Choice Movie Awards for Best Young Performer. He also starred as Norman Bates in the series Bates Motel (2013-2017), for which he was nominated three times for the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series and won a People’s Choice Award. In 2017, Highmore starred as Dr. Shaun Murphy in the ABC drama series The Good Doctor, for which he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor.
