Johnny Manuel (age 35) of Team Guy Sebastian performed an incredible version of “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion during the Grand Finale on The Voice Australia 2020 (Season 9).
“My Heart Will Go On” is the main theme song to James Cameron’s blockbuster film Titanic. It was released as a single from Dion’s fifth English-language studio album, Let’s Talk About Love (1997). The song reached number one in over 20 countries, with worldwide sales at 18 million copies, becoming one of the best-selling singles of all time.
Johnny’s breathtaking rendition of Dion’s hit earned a standing ovation from the judges. They all praised Johnny for his remarkable take on Celine Dion’s hit song.
In the end though, Johnny Manuel lost to Chris Sebastian (Guy Sebastian’s brother), who eventually won The Voice Australia UK. The outcome of the Grand Finale is decided by public vote.

Prior to joining The Voice Australia, Johnny Manuel was on America’s Got Talent Season 12, where he received a Golden Buzzer from Seal in the Judges’ Cuts. But he lost in the semi finals of AGT.
Judges’ Comments:
Delta Goodrem said it’s something one doesn’t see every day, “Johnny, a male vocalist being able to take on Celine Dion is truly remarkable. It was incredible of course.”
Boy George commented, “Oh my God, the voice is ridiculous! To hear a man hit notes like that, well, it’s just not fair. We know from last year that Australia loves big voices. Diana Rouvas, I won with last year, she had an incredible voice. So you know you’ve got a bright future, Johnny.”
Kelly Rowland said, “If your phone hasn’t already started ringing off the hook now, oh you just wait.”
Earlier, Johnny’s coach Guy Sebastian said that Johnny raised the bar last week but he has to match that or take that even further.
The Voice Australia was renewed for a ninth season right after the end of the eighth season. It was announced that all coaches would return for the new season.
The ninth season of The Voice Australia begun airing on May 24, 2020. For the first time in the show’s history all of the coaches are returning: Delta Goodrem for her eighth, Kelly Rowland and Boy George for their fourth and Guy Sebastian for his second. Following the exit of Sonia Kruger, Darren McMullen, who hosted the first three seasons, returns with new co-host, Renee Bargh.
The show is part of the television franchise The Voice and is structured as three phases: blind auditions, battle rounds and live performance shows. The show added another phase in 2017: the knockouts between the blind auditions and the battles. The winner receives a recording contract with Universal Music or EMI (2019) as well as A$100,000 and other prizes.
