Lips was unmasked and her identity was revealed when she received the least number of votes during “The Group C Premiere – Masked But Not Least” (Week 5) on The Masked Singer Season 4 (2020).
Prior to her unmasking, the Lips Masked Singer performed a cover of “Native New Yorker” by Odyssey.
Many of The Masked Singer fans guessed who Lips was before her unmasking and said she should have stayed longer so the show would have been more fun.
So who is Lips Masked Singer?
Lips turned out to be none other than Emmy-nominated television host and author Wendy Williams. Among the panelists, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg and Nicole Scherzinger guessed that Lips is none other than Williams.
Ken Jeong‘s first impression of Lips was American singer-songwriter and actress, Mariah Carey, which host Nick Cannon (Mariah’s ex-husband) found funny. Jeong apologized to Nick and changed his guess to American actress Allison Janney.
Robin Thicke‘s first impression guess was American actress, comedian, singer, and author Sandra Bernhard. He stuck with his guess based on clues given.
Jenny McCarthy initially thought Lips was Wendy Williams and stuck with her guess, even saying Wendy’s signature line, “How You Doin’?”
Nicole Scherzinger‘s first impression guess was also Wendy Williams, then thought it was American reality TV show participant, writer, and former political aide to President Donald Trump, Omarosa Newman. But she went back to her original guess that Lips is Wendy Williams, saying the “West Wing” clue stands for the initials of Wendy.

After Lips was unmasked, host Nick Cannon had to ask Wendy Williams why she decided to join the show. Wendy says that first of all the Lips mask was fabulous. Then she said, “I can’t sing, I can’t dance, but I know how to have fun.”
Some of the clues about Lips Masked Singer were explained during the reveal. The fire is a clue to the segment “Hot Topics” on Wendy’s talk show and her autobiography “Wendy’s Got the Heat”. The #12 is a clue to Wendy’s birthplace of New Jersey and her talk show airing its 12th season.
Wendy Williams (age 56) has hosted the nationally syndicated television talk show The Wendy Williams Show since 2008. She was a radio DJ and host who became known in New York as a “shock jockette” and gained notoriety for her on-air spats with celebrities prior to her television work. She was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2009.
Wendy has also written a New York Times best-selling autobiography and six other books, and has created product lines including a fashion line, a jewelry collection and a wig line.
The Masked Singer is an American reality singing competition TV series and is part of the Masked Singer franchise featuring celebrities in head-to-toe costumes and face masks which conceal their identities from other contestants, panelists, and an audience. It premiered on Fox on January 2, 2019, and is hosted by Nick Cannon. The series was renewed for a fourth season and aired its first episode on September 23, 2020.

The host and all of the panelists returned for their fourth season. For the first time in the show, the panelists engaged in a competition for the Golden Ear. During the first three episodes, after each celebrity contestant’s initial performance along with an initial clue package, each judge/ panelist wrote their first impressions-based guess at the identity of the celebrity. Those guesses will be revealed after each celebrity was unmasked, with panelists scoring a point for each celebrity they got correct from their initial first impression. The panelist with the most correct answers will be declared the winner of the Golden Ear.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the location was changed from Television City to Red Studios Hollywood. Safety protocols implemented for the show included tapings to have a virtual audience, and that the judging panel will be 8 feet apart from each other. Many of the clues packaged also used animation by Bento Box Entertainment as opposed to live-action filming.
Fox Alternative Entertainment president Rob Wade said that the show used “various quarantining and various camera tricks” to preserve the visible presence of a studio audience. A “virtual audience” was incorporated into voting.
The Masked Singer Season 4 has 16 contestants, including the first-ever two-headed duet costume and the first puppet costume. The contestants of this season are said to have 46 Grammy nominations, 23 platinum records, 10 Hall of Fame appearances, and one Olympic gold medalist.
