Julia, when I heard you start going into your head voice, started listening to what you were doing up there. And you’re a master of that part of your voice. And there’s so much strength that you have. Really some incredible singing you were doing.

That was amazing. That was so entertaining and so weird in the best way ever. Both of you, guys, have such unusual voices.

This song, I feel like these are the only two Battle singers I could imagine ever singing it. It’s just musically expert-level, PhD, professor-level chops. And both of you knocked it out of the park.
Julia, I think your tone is so cool, and your vibrato. And the way you approach every song, it’s just got an artistic flair to it that I think is so special. And between the Blinds and this performance, what you showed was leaps and bounds ahead of where you were.
John [Holiday], you were otherworldly. Everybody’s struggling to find someone to compare you to, but there’s just no one that they can compare you to. The world needed to hear your voice. And we’re so lucky that you came here. And that we were able to give you this opportunity to be heard and be seen because you truly deserve it.
On choosing John Holiday: John is just so remarkable. He’s just one of those talents that don’t come along very often. We haven’t seen someone with his immense gift on this show, and I had to pick him.
On Saving Julia Cooper: Obviously, John is just such a unique talent, but you [Julia] showed us so much with your soul, your voice, your musicality. And I’d love to have you go in the Four-Way Knockout, and see if America will send you to the next round.

The vocal range, John [Holiday], I don’t even know who to compare it to. Your vocal range is incredible.
But, Julia, I will say I actually couldn’t stop listening to your cool, little intricate things you were doing. And they were unexpected. I love that you kept breaking into your head voice. And you had so much control over it. I thought you did a really good job, Julia.
