Law & Order: SVU Season 24
The twenty-fourth season of the American crime-drama television series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (aka Law & Order: SVU or just SVU) is scheduled to premiere on September 22, 2022, with an epic crossover premiere event. The season will be produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, with David Graziano as the new showrunner, replacing Warren Leight. Kelli Giddish, who plays the role of Amanda Rollins, will be leaving SVU during season 24, after 12 years on the show. Newcomer Molly Burnett will join the main cast as Detective Grace Muncy.
Law & Order: SVU was created by Dick Wolf for NBC. The show premiered on September 20, 1999. It is the first spinoff of Law & Order and stars Mariska Hargitay as Captain Olivia Benson, the commanding officer of the Special Victims Unit in a fictionalized version of the New York City Police Department. The series follows the style of the original Law & Order in that some episodes are loosely based on real c–mes that have received media attention.
After the premiere of its 21st season in September 2019, the series became TV’s longest-running primetime U.S. live-action series in the history of television and the only live-action primetime series that debuted in the 1990s and is still producing new episodes. The series has received 91 award nominations, winning 33 awards, with lead star Mariska Hargitay winning the coveted Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2006.
