Fargo is an American anthology black comedy crime drama television series created and primarily written by Noah Hawley. The show is inspired by the Academy Award-winning 1996 feature film of the same name, which was written and directed by the Coen brothers, and takes place within the same fictional universe. Fargo premiered on April 15, 2014 on FX with each season set in a different era and location with a different story and mostly new characters and cast. It was renewed through to the fifth season which is set to premiere on November 21, 2023, on FX. Episodes will be available for streaming on Hulu.
The fifth season of Fargo consist of 10 episodes and is set in Minnesota and North Dakota in 2019. It follows Dorothy “Dot” Lyon, a seemingly typical Midwestern housewife living in Scandia, Minnesota, whose mysterious past comes back to haunt her after she lands in hot water with the authorities. The series stars Jon Hamm, Juno Temple, and Jennifer Jason Leigh as lead characters Roy Tillman, Dorothy “Dot” Lyon, and Lorraine Lyon, respectively.
