For months now, there had been rumors about Fortnite in-game Marshmello cosmetic pack and concert. It’s finally confirmed by the leak that fortnitenews published. It showed that “Epic” plans to do something “epic” for the Fortnite fans.
Marshmello (age 26, real name: Christopher Comstock) is an American electronic music producer and DJ. He is best known for the songs “Silence”, “Wolves”, “Friends” and “Happier”, all of which have been certified multi-platinum in many countries and appeared in the Top 30 of the Billboard Hot 100.
On February 2, 2019 at 2pm ET (Saturday), Epic will be throwing a Fortnite in-game Marshmello EDM concert. The said concert will be inside Fortnite Battle Royale. Though there’s an exact date and time about the Marshmello concert, it’s not clear how long the concert will be.
The Fortnite in-game Marshmello EDM concert will happen in Pleasant Park, but for sure, you’ll be able to hear the music and concert lights even from afar, or anywhere on the map. It will be its own LTM called “Party at Pleasant Park” with respawns enabled, and that means during the party, you’ll be able to kill each other. There are also some leaks showing a stage, speakers and lights which probably will be set up on Pleasant Park’s football field.
Let’s not forget the Marshmello cosmetic bundle for this event which includes skin, pickaxe, and spray. As to the price of the bundle, there’s no proper info about it yet.
Fortnite, a hugely popular video game, throwing a concert from a major music artist is awesome. And because it’s Marshmello who will be performing on the said concert, it’s likely that millions will watch the concert. It’s definitely a bigger audience than that of a regular concert venue because it’s digital, and it will be of little effort on Marshmello’s part.
Just an FYI, Marshmello actually plays Fortnite in real life. He even won Epic’s E3 celebrity invitational but the upcoming Fortnite concert is probably beyond that.
Some are also curious if the Marshmello Fortnite concert is a live fire event like you can kill other virtual people watching the concert as the LTM description says. They are bothered about the impact of the possible virtual actions players would do during the concert. But for others, they predict it would be very cool and unique experience in gaming. Imagine an in-game concert (live?) where millions of players will watch in real-time.
It’s not farfetched that the avid Fortnite player, Marshmello himself, will be there, playing. Some are guessing that the concert won’t be live, that the Marshmello who’ll perform on stage would be an NPC.
