The epic 2019 American superhero film “Avengers:Endgame”, aka Avengers 4, has earned nearly USD 2.5 billion worldwide (USD 2.485 million to be exact) on its third weekend in cinemas.
“Avengers: Endgame” box office gross maybe huge but it is still at number two on the list of all time box office worldwide grosses, which is led by James Cameron’s science fiction film “Avatar” (USD 2.788 billion). It needs more than USD 302.5 million to topple “Avatar” from the top spot.
As of Sunday, (May 12, 2019), “Avengers: Endgame” grossed more than USD 723 million domestically, surpassing “Avengers: Infinity War” (USD 678.8 million) and “Black Panther” (USD 700 million).
“Avengers: Engame” is now the third-biggest domestic earner of all time, just behind “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (USD 936.6 million) and “Avatar” (USD 760.5 million)
In terms of overseas gross, “Avengers: Endgame” is now at USD 1.762 billion, second to Avatar’s USD 2.027 billion.
At the rate Avengers: Endgame’s box office take is dropping by the week, analysts think the MCU epic may find it hard to overtake Avatar’s worldwide gross, though it’s still very possible. Its overseas earnings dropped by 64% while its domestic weekend gross dropped by 57% compared to last week. But Avatar’s record is still well within its reach.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, “Avengers: Endgame” stars Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Bradley Cooper, and Josh Brolin.
