Farrah Fawcett cancer: Farrah Fawcett was an American actress, model, and artist. A four-time Emmy Award nominee and six-time Golden Globe Award nominee.

She rose to international fame when she posed for her iconic red swimsuit poster โ€“ which became the best selling pin-up poster in history โ€“ and starred as private investigator Jill Munroe in the first season of the TV series Charlie’s Angels (1976โ€“1977). In 1996, she was ranked No. 26 on TV Guide’s “50 Greatest TV stars of All-Time”.

Farrah Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006 and began treatment that included chemotherapy and surgery. After four month, on February 2, 2007, her 60th birthday, it was reported that she was at that point cancer-free.

However, in May 2007, Farrah Fawcett experienced a recurrence and was diagnosed with stage IV cancer that had metastasized to her liver, a malignant polyp was found where she had been treated for the initial cancer.

Fawcett’s U.S. doctors told her that she would require a colostomy. Not wanting to proceed with a colostomy for treatment of her stage IV cancer, she traveled to Germany for treatments described variously in the press as “aggressive” and “alternative”.

In early April 2009, Fawcett was back in the United States and hospitalized. Fawcett was released from the hospital on April 9. She was accompanied by longtime companion O’Neal, and according to her doctor, was “walking and in great spirits and looking forward to celebrating Easter at home.”

A month later, on May 7, Fawcett was reported as being critically ill, with Ryan O’Neal quoted as saying she now spends her days at home, on an IV and often asleep.

Fawcett died at 9:28 a.m. PDT on June 25, 2009, at the age of 62, due to cancer, at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California, with O’Neal and Stewart by her side.
