Frustrated fans created an online petition on Change.org against what’s happening in Game of Thrones Season 8 (final season). Many are complaining about character development thrown out the window, no progression in the story, et al. The final season, some say, feels rushed.
One thing to note here is that fans invested years supporting Game of Thrones. And Game of Thrones is not an ordinary TV show, it is a global phenomenon. This is the reason why the ending of this TV show is important to many people, and the backlash and the outrage are very loud.
Some fans say that, yes, Game of Thrones is known for plot twists but the previous plot twists were acceptable because the characters were given enough time to be understood by the viewers. In Game of Thrones Season 8, it is a mess, according to them.
With just one episode left (Episode 6), frustrated Game of Thrones fans seem like they aren’t waiting for the ending anymore because it is predictable with the stories presented from (Season 8) Episodes 1 to 5. And with Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 6 leaks available online, they are already heart-broken as the leaks for Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 were true, almost word for word. So most propably, the Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 6 leaks will also be true.
Aside from the stories in Season 8, Game of Thrones fans weren’t happy with the underlit Battle of Winterfell wherein the show’s writers D&D (David Benioff, D.B. Weiss) blamed the TV monitors of the viewers to have bad settings. For many fans, this was a lame excuse.
Another frustration fans have was the execution of Missandei, the sole prominent woman of color left in the Game of Thrones Season 8 cast.
Last but not least, the Episode 5 “The Bells” triggered Game of Thrones fans because according to them, Daenerys turning into a Mad Queen was unearned. And Cersei and Jaime’s death was anticlimactic. Also, they don’t think Euron Greyjoy deserved the screentime he had while he was dying.
Because of all of the complaints from fans, a Change.org petition was created urging HBO to remake Game of Thrones Season 8 with competent writers, without GoT’s writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
The petition argues that the current GoT writers have proven themselves to be incompetent when they have no source material like the Game of Thrones books.
David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on.
This series deserves a final season that makes sense.

As of this writing, 132,000 people have signed the petition at https://www.change.org/p/hbo-remake-game-of-thrones-season-8-with-competent-writers. The petition aims to get 150,000 signs at first, then later on it was increased to 300,000.

I don’t want these two anywhere near Star Wars, either. This was abysmal.
I understand it’s GOT but don’t trash 8 yrs of character building for what they think will shock and awe us. It sucks.
It feels like the writers rushed through the final season just to get it over with. Strongly disappointed with the way things went for season 8. NOT COOL
The ending of one of TV’s greatest ever shows has been rushed and completely ruined by incompetent writing. The fans – as well as the incredible actors who have spent a decade of their lives bringing this story to life – deserved better.
