American actor, voice artist, and comedian Rip Torn died at the age of 88 on Tuesday, July 9, 2019.
The late actor’s publicist said Rip Torn died peacefully at his home in Lakeville, Connecticut, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Rip Torn, whose full name was Elmore Rual Torn Jr., was best known for his role as Artie the producer on HBO’s “The Larry Sanders Show”, for which he received six Emmy nominations, winning in 1996. He was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the movie “Cross Creek” (1984).
The actor made his debut in the 1956 film “Baby Doll” and his last film appearance was as Frank in the movie “Johnny Kidd” in 2013.
Some of his most popular films include “King of Kings” (1961),”Payday” (1972), “How To Make an American Quilt” (1995),”Men in Black” (1997), “The Insider” (1999), and “Freddy Got Fingered” (2001) and “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story” (2004).
On TV, Rip Torn’s final project was the American adult animated series “Trip Tank”, where he voiced the character “M.”
Rip Torn is survived by his wife, American actress Amy Wright, and 6 children which includes actress, director, producer and screenwriter Angelica Page.
