Michelle Payne is the youngest of ten children of racehorse trainer Paddy Payne. Almost all of Paddy’s children grow up to become jockeys. Michelle Payne became the first woman to ride the winner of the Melbourne Cup in 2015.
Payne won the Melbourne Cup on November 3 2015, riding Prince of Penzance, a six-year-old gelding with which she had a long-term association.
The film Ride Like a Girl received mixed to positive reviews from critics and audiences, earning a 65% approval rating on review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes.
