Lili Davies (age 68) a single lady from Essex, perfomed an original song titled “I Have a Crush on You” during the Auditions round on Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 14).
Originally from Romania, the charming Lili said she’s single and “looking”. Lili said she has written the song for somebody she has a crush on. David Walliams thought it was meant for him, but the chorus with the lyrics, “Simon, Simon, Simon,” made it clear to everyone that the song is dedicated to none other than Simon Cowell.
The crowd loved Lili and so did BGT judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams, and Amanda Holden. As Lili performed onstage, the usually hard-to-please Simon was saying to his co-judges that it’s a beatiful song. Simon even gave Lili a standing ovation.
David Walliams said it’s a song that Simon could sing in front of a mirror. He said it’s actually a lovely and catchy song. Alesha asked if Lili will only sing songs about Simon and Lili answered in the negative.
Simon Cowell said they’d been making the show for 14 years and had some outstanding moments “when we’ve found someone truly special or perhaps a song which is so haunting, so beautiful that you will never forget and this is in the top three.” Simon was serious when he uttered those words and from there, went on to praise the lyrics of the song, when Alesha interrupted and asked for a vote.
All of the judges gave Lili their “Yes” votes, and Lili asked for a bonus of a kiss from Simon. The BGT creator gladly obliged.
When he sat back on the judges table, Simon asked the other judges, “How do you top that? This is a world anthem you just heard.”

Britain’s Got Talent (aka BGT) is a televised British talent show competition, and part of the global Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell. It is hosted by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly (also known as Ant and Dec), and produced by both Thames (formerly Talkback Thames) and Syco Entertainment, distributed by Fremantle, and broadcast on ITV every year. The show premiered on June 9, 2007 following the success of America’s Got Talent the previous year.
Every year, contestants of any age can audition for the contest with whatever talent they wish to demonstrate. Auditionees seek to impress a panel of judges – at present, consisting of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams – in order to secure a place in the live rounds of BGT. The winner gets a cash prize and a place within that year’s performances for the Royal Variety Performance before members of the British Royal Family.
On average, Britain’s Got Talent draws 9.9 million viewers per series. A spin-off titled Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions, featuring the same judges and hosts, was later produced and broadcast in 2019, following the success of the American edition’s spin-off America’s Got Talent: The Champions. Britain’s Got Talent is contracted to run until 2024.
Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 14) will air in two parts, the first in April 2020 with pre-recorded audition episodes, while the second containing the live rounds to be aired at a later date. The series was split into two parts because of the Covid-19 pandemic or coronavirus outbreak and the resulting lockdown issued by the British government.
