Thunderstorm Artis (age 23) performs George Gershwin‘s “Summertime” during the Live Top 17 Performances on The Voice 2020 (Season 18).
John Legend, former coach of Thunderstorm, commented that the performance was magical and it mesmerized him like when Thunderstorm sang Blackbird during the Blinds. He said Thunderstorm was a good whistler too. He summed it up by saying, “It was incredible.”
Coach Nick Jonas described Thunderstorm’s performance as “unbelievable”. Nick also appreciated Thunderstorm’s whistling during his rendition, and said he was envious because he can’t whistle. He said it was also a joyful thing that lifted the performance in a perfect way.

Thunderstorm Artis Sings “Summertime” – The Voice Live Top 17 Performances 2020
“Summertime” is an aria composed in 1934 by George Gershwin for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess. There are over 25,000 recordings of “Summertime”. A version by Billie Holiday was the first to hit the US pop charts, and peaked at number 12. Ella Fitzgerald, and Norah Jones also covered the song.
Season 18 of The Voice premiered at 8PM on February 24, 2020 on NBC and will air Mondays at 8 PM. John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton returned as coaches for their third, fifth and eighteenth seasons, respectively. Nick Jonas joined the panel as a new coach, replacing Gwen Stefani. Meanwhile, Carson Daly returned for his eighteenth season as host.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, production has done some adjustments. For the first time ever, there will be only three weeks of Live Shows: the Playoffs, the Semi-Final, and the Finale. That’s a big drop compared to six weeks of Live Shows in Season 17.
The three weeks of live shows will also air as lives done at each contestant’s and coach’s home.
As to the voting system, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists and artists who receive the fewest votes will be eligible for the “Instant Save”. America will then save their favorite performer by voting on “The Voice” app (available on iOS and Android) or NBC.com. The artists with the fewest number of votes will be “sent home” or eliminated each week.
