From the Vine follows a a burned-out business executive named Marco Gentile (Joe Pantoliano) who experiences an ethical crisis and gives up on the corporate rat race. He travels back to Acerenza, his hometown in rural Italy, to recalibrate his moral compass. There he finds new purpose in reviving his grandfather’s old vineyard, offering the small town a sustainable future, and reconnecting with his estranged family in the process.
This Canadian drama film is directed by Sean Cisterna (Kiss and Cry, Full Out, Moon Point). It is based on the novel “Finding Marco” by Kenneth Canio Cancellara. The film stars Joe Pantoliano, Paula Brancati, Marco Leonardi, Wendy Crewson, Tony Nardi, Tony Nappo and Kevin Hanchard.

Produced by Kyle Bornais, Paula Brancati, Sean Cisterna, and Francesco Papa, From the Vine premiered in June 2019 at the Italian Contemporary Film Festival in Toronto, where it received the Best Film, IC Savings Award. Its October 2019 screening at Devour! The Food Film Fest was billed as its official North American premiere.
The film also received several awards from different festivals where it played including Best Feature Film at the Devour! The Food Film Fest 2019; Best Foreign Film and Career Achievement Award for Joe Pantoliano at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival 2019; Ischia Legend Award for Joe Pantoliano at the Ischia Global Film & Music Festival 2019; and Impact Award at the Naples International Film Festival 2019.
From the Vine was originally scheduled to be released on May 1, 2020, but this was cancelled due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. It was instead released on digital platforms in July 2020.
