Soldiers Vince and Lee, the jazz singing duet known as The Soldiers of Swing, croon with an unexpected swing rendition of One Direction’s “Story Of My Life” during the semi-final round on Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Series 14).
The Soldiers of Swing did not get into the top three acts of the night and will have to wait for the public vote result to see if they would be competing in the final.

“Story of My Life” was released in October 2013 as the second single from One Direction’s third studio album, Midnight Memories (2013). The song peaked at number 2 on the UK Singles (OCC) chart, at number six on the US Billboard Hot 100, and topped Billboard’s US Adult Top 40.

Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Series 14) began broadcasting in the UK on April 11, 2020. The series was split into two parts because of the Covid-19 pandemic or coronavirus outbreak and the resulting lockdown issued by the British government. The first half aired audition episodes between April to May, which had been filmed before the national lockdown. The second half is currently airing the remaining episodes across September to October.
Production on the second half of the series saw considerable changes including a change in the voting system. All episodes being aired weekly – a first in the programme’s history – and all semi-finals are pre-recorded.
Before the first semi-finals were to begin, Simon Cowell sustained a back injury following an electric bike accident, and was replaced by Ashley Banjo as a stand-in.
