I was trying to imagine myself trying to perform a song like that. Lauren, you trully are unique and I’m excited for you because I think no matter what happens here today, you’re gonna blaze a path that’s not like anybody else.
Payge, I still feel like you’re on my team. I just haven’t accepted it yet. Like, when I saw you, I’m like, “Oh, yeah, we have a connection. We’re gonna win the show together.” You’re somebody who’s gonna do really, really well on the show. If this was my Battle, I’d be going with Payge right now.

Both you guys are equally artistic. The music and the emotion is really coming from deep inside. Lauren, you’re just so fascinating to me because you don’t seem nervous and you just seem like you’re supposed to be here doing music.
And Payge, you know what you want to say. You know who you want to be and I think we’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg, vocally. So, it makes it nearly impossible for me to choose somebody. This was probably gonna be the hardest one of my team…

Julia [Michaels], she writes songs that feel so real and full of angst and point of view and passion. And I thought both of you did an excellent job communicating what the songwriter was trying to put forth in the song.
Payge, your voice has the depth, the character and the range. And Lauren, you have a lot of maturity in the way you carry yourself.

That was so beautiful. How? I mean, that was so intense. Payge, I could not keep my eyes off of you. There is something so special about your tone. It almost got a little theatrical in the beginning, but then you were like a character in a movie. And I was like, “What is this? I want to know the end.”
Lauren, you have this really pretty, angelic tone. I cannot believe you’re 16 years old, just to be that artistic. I’d have to go with Payge. Although, Lauren, you are magical.
