The nineteenth season of the American reality television series The Voice premiered on October 19, 2020, on NBC. Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend returned as coaches for their nineteenth, sixth and fourth season, respectively. Gwen Stefani rejoined the panel for her fifth season, after being replaced by Nick Jonas last season. Meanwhile, Carson Daly returned for his nineteenth season as host.
“Angel” is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan. The song first appeared on Surfacing, the Canadian singer’s 1997 album. The lyrics are about the death of Jonathan Melvoin (1961-1996), the Smashing Pumpkins’ touring keyboard player, from a heroin overdose, as McLachlan explained on VH1 Storytellers. It is sometimes mistitled as “In the Arms of an Angel” or “Arms of the Angel”.
