The Hammerhead was unmasked during the Super Six night on Week 5 of The Masked Dancer Season 1 (2021).
Before the reveal, Hammerhead danced to “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” by Santa Esmeralda. The Hammerhead got the least amount of votes among the Super Six contestants and he was eventually eliminated from the reality competition. Startattle.com – The Masked Dancer.
Paula Abdul was the only panelist who mentioned the name of the celebrity behind the Hammerhead mask, but she did not stick to her guess that it could be him.
So who is Hammerhead on The Masked Dancer?
The Hammerhead was revealed as American reality television personality Vinny Guadagnino, who’s best known for being a cast member on MTV’s Jersey Shore.
Prior to his unmasking, Hammerhead answered the questions from the panelists.
The Hammerhead replied “Yes, for sure” when Brian Austin Green asked him if he is a fan of working out. He told Ashley Tisdale that he is taller than Ken Jeong. He replied to guest panelist Whitney Cummings that he has done “a little” stand-up comedy. He answered “Yes” when Ken Jeong asked, “Have you ever been to New Jersey?” He told Paula Abdul that he’s a lover of social media.
Ken Jeong previously thought Hammerhead is Ryan Seacrest. But knowing that Hammerhead has been to New Jersey and Vegas, Ken thinks Hammerhead has a residency in Vegas as a DJ at Dre’s nightclub. With additional clues of hammer tone suntan lotion, Ken thinks that Hammerhead could be none other than American television personality Pauly D of the reality show Jersey Shore.
Guest panelist Whitney Cummings said that with the clues of Jersey, Vegas and tanning, she agreed with Ken that Hammerhead is Pauly D.
Ashley Tisdale said Hammerhead could be a comedian based on the clue of a stand-up microphone. She thinks he was in a movie based in Vegas titled “Think Like a Man Too.” Ashley concluded that Hammerhead could be Kevin Hart.
Brian Austin Green said that based on the stage performance, Hammerhead wants to have fun and was really entertaining. Brian said Hammerhead is a big fan of Vegas and of partying, so he’s sticking with his earlier guess that Hammerhead is Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, who appeared in all seasons of Jersey Shore.
Paula Abdul went back to an earlier clue showing Hammerhead painting. She thinks the celebrity behind the Hammerhead mask is YouTube personality David Dobrik. Paula mentioned earlier the names of Jersey Shore cast members Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and Vinny Guadagnino.

Vinny Guadagnino said it was great to be Hammerhead and the judges nailed it that he wasn’t a professional dancer. He likes to learn new things and it was the most fun thing he had ever done. He loved the anonymity of being Hammerhead and got to “like go crazy and surprise everybody.”
Clues about the Hammerhead were explained after the reveal. The eye chart was a clue to Vinny’s former clothing brand “I Have A Vision”. The burger was a hint to his guest starring role on MTV’s The Hard Times of R.J. Berger. Vinny said that the Vegas clue refers to his occasional residency as a stripper at Chippendales. When he ripped his shirt off in his first performance, it was also a nod to his Chippendales gig. Vinny also explained that the wedding cake clue pointed to an episode on Jersey Shore where he and Pauly D got “bro-mitted” to each other.
Vinny Guadagnino (age 33) starred in all six seasons of Jersey Shore, just like Michael Sorrentino (aka The Situation). He appeared in the 2012 Syfy original movie Jersey Shore Shark Attack. He had his own talk show, “The Show with Vinny” on MTV and starred with his mother on “Vinny & Ma Eat America” on The Cooking Channel. In 2019, he starred with Pauly D in a “Double Shot at Love” on MTV.
The Masked Dancer is an American reality competition television series that premiered on Fox on December 27, 2020. Craig Robinson hosts the show, with Ken Jeong, Paula Abdul, Brian Austin Green, and Ashley Tisdale serving as panelists. Like The Masked Singer’s format, celebrity contestants wear head-to-toe costumes and face masks that conceal their identities, but perform alongside a “masked partner”. The show began as a recurring segment on Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime talk show which spoofed The Masked Singer.
The series features 10 contestants who have sold more than 38 million albums worldwide, 20 Emmy Awards wins, 20 Grammy nominations, 10 World Dancing titles, five New York Times Best-Selling Author titles, four Olympic gold medals, and three apoearances in Broadway shows.
