Before he performed onstage, he told the judges, “Music has been a savior to me over the last seven years I’ve traveled this country. And I’ve been able to make my way because I’ve been who I am. Season: American Idol 2021 (Season 19)
Host: Ryan Seacrest
Judges: Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie

The nineteenth season of the reality show singing competition American Idol premiered on February 14, 2021 on the ABC television network. It is the fourth season to air on ABC since the series reboot; Ryan Seacrest returns as host. Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie return as judges and Bobby Bones as mentor.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, the show offered its first ever live virtual auditions to aspiring contestants through its Idol Across America program using custom-built Zoom technology. The remote auditions took place from August 10 to October 28, 2020 in 50 states plus Washington, D.C. as well as a number of open call auditions, and from these the producers selected the contestants who can then audition in front of the judges.

“I Got a Name” is the first single from Jim Croce’s album of the same title. It was released in 1973 and is Croce’s first posthumous single, released the day after his death in a plane crash on September 20. The song peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 after spending 17 weeks on the chart. It also hit number 3 on the Cash Box Top 100. It was the theme song for the 1973 movie The Last American Hero and was also featured in the movies The Ice Storm, Invincible, Django Unchained, Logan, and The Lego Ninjago Movie.
