The Raccoon was unmasked during the Group Wildcard Round on Week 3 of The Masked Singer 2021, Season Five. He was voted off the reality competition and was the third celebrity to be eliminated this season. Startattle.com – The Masked Singer.
Before he was unmasked, the Raccoon peformed “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash.
No one among the panelists was able to guess who the Raccoon is. Meanwhile, many of The Masked Singer fans were able to guess the celebrity behind the Raccoon mask even before the reveal.
So who is the Raccoon on The Masked Singer?
The Raccoon was revealed as American actor , activist, and restaurateur Danny Trejo, best known as the character Machete, originally developed by Rodriguez for the Spy Kids series of movies and later expanded into Trejo’s own series of films.
For his first impression, Ken Jeong said Raccoon could be American former professional boxer Mike Tyson. He changed his guess to American actor, comedian, director, producer, and screenwriter Danny DeVito based on the clues Batman and coffee beans.
Jenny McCarthy‘s first impression guess was American actor and filmmaker Dustin Hoffman. She changed her guess to American actor Gary Busey because of the way he said her name, reminding Jenny of her recent interview with the actor.
Interestingly enough, Nicole Scherzinger‘s first impression guess was Gary Busey. But she changed her guess based on the many boxing and training clues. She said Raccoon could be American actor, director, producer, and screenwriter Sylvester Stallone.
Robin Thicke‘s first impression guess was Danny DeVito, but he changed his guess because of the clues given in Raccoon’s package. He said Raccoon began as a boxer, then became a star so he thinks Raccoon is American actor, television personality, tap dancer, boxer, and teacher Tony Danza.
Guest panelist Joel McHale agreed with Robin that Raccoon could be Tony Danza because of his voice and the way he speaks.

When he was unmasked, Danny Trejo said he felt like a winner. “I don’t care, I love it. And besides that, I was a cute Raccoon,” he said. He also told Jenny, “You know what, I got to say that Jenny, I’m helping raise two autistic kids and…I love the work that you do. I mean that from the bottom of my heart.” Danny was referring to Jenny McCarthy’s advocacy for special needs children.
Danny found it funny that everyone the panelists mentioned, he has done a movie with. Ken Jeong agreed and said, “Exactly! You worked with everybody! You are a legend. Everybody respects and adores you.”
A couple of clues about the Raccoon were answered during the reveal. The box cutter is a nod to Danny’s boxing history and sharp characters he’s played including Machete. The donut is for Danny’s popular shop Trejo’s Coffee and Donuts.
Danny Trejo (age 76) has appeared in TV shows like Stargate Atlantis, Breaking Bad, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The X-Files, King of the Hill, The Flash, and Sons of Anarchy. His film credits include Heat, Con Air, Bubble Boy, Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Urban Justice, and Range 15.

Singer-songwriter Robin Thicke, television and radio personality Jenny McCarthy, actor and comedian Ken Jeong, and recording artist Nicole Scherzinger returned for their fifth season as panelists. Regular host Nick Cannon tested positive for COVID-19 a few days before production was set to begin in February 2021. Niecy Nash is currently the guest host for an unannounced number of episodes.
The season began with two groups of five, Group A and Group B, then will introduce a new twist in which “wild card” contestants will enter the competition throughout the run of the show for a chance to unseat another contestant. The contestants for Season 5 have a combined “26 Grammy nominations, nine multi-platinum singles, four Oscar nominations, three Super Bowl appearances, six gold medals and two world records among them”. Costumes for this season include Black Swan, Chameleon, Grandpa Monster, Raccoon, Piglet, Raccoon, Robopine, Russian Dolls, Seashell, and Snail. This season also includes a non-contestant mask called “Cluedle-Doo”, who will interrupt the show and give out new clues.
