The nineteenth season of the reality show singing competition American Idol premiered on February 14, 2021 on the ABC television network. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, the show offered its first ever live virtual auditions to aspiring contestants through its Idol Across America program using custom-built Zoom technology. The remote auditions took place from August 10 to October 28, 2020 in 50 states plus Washington, D.C. as well as a number of open call auditions, and from these the producers selected the contestants who can then audition in front of the judges.
“Holy” was released on September 18, 2020, as the lead single off Justin Bieber’s sixth studio album, Justice. It features vocals from American rapper Chance the Rapper, marking the pair’s fifth collaboration. The song debuted and peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and topped the US Adult Top 40. Billboard named it the 41st best song of 2020.
