The Water Man 2021
The Water Man follows Gunner (Chavis), a boy who sets out on a quest to save his ill mother (Dawson) by searching for a mythic figure who possesses the secret to immortality, the Water Man. He gets help from a mysterious local girl named Jo (Miller), and they journey together into the remote Wild Horse forest. But the deeper they venture, the stranger and more dangerous the forest becomes. Their only hope for rescue is Gunner’s father (Oyelowo), who will stop at nothing to find them.
The film is produced by Carla Gardini, Monica Levinson, David Oyelowo, and Shivani Rawat. Oprah Winfrey serves as an executive producer via her Harpo Films banner. It had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13, 2020. The Water Man is scheduled to be released by RLJE Films in select US theaters on May 7, 2021.
