Money Heist (Spanish: La casa de papel, “The House of Paper”) is a Spanish heist crime drama television series created by Álex Pina. The series is set in Madrid and traces two heists led by the Professor (Álvaro Morte), one on the Royal Mint of Spain, and one on the Bank of Spain. Money Heist is told from the perspective of a woman named Silene Oliveira, code-named Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó).

A mysterious man known as “The Professor” recruits a group of eight people, and choose cities for code-names, to carry out a plan that involves entering the Royal Mint of Spain, and escaping with €1.2 Billion. In the events succeeding the initial heist, the group are forced out of hiding and find themselves preparing for a second heist, this time on the Bank of Spain.
Money Heist is executive produced by Álex Pina (2017-2021), Jesús Colmenar (2017-2019), and Sonia Martínez (2017). The series was initially intended as a limited series to be told in two parts. It had its original run of 15 episodes on Spanish network Antena 3 from May 2, 2017 through November 23, 2017.
Netflix acquired global streaming rights in late 2017 and re-cut Money Heist into 22 shorter episodes. The streaming service then released them worldwide, beginning with Part 1 on December 20, 2017, followed by Part 2 on April 6, 2018. In April 2018, Netflix renewed the series for 16 new episodes total. Part 3, with eight episodes, was released on July 19, 2019. Part 4, also with eight episodes, was released on April 3, 2020. In July 2020, Netflix renewed the show for a fifth and final part, which will be released in two five-episode volumes on September 3 and December 3 2021, respectively.
The series received critical acclaim for its sophisticated plot, interpersonal dramas, and direction. It has received several awards including Best Drama Series at the 46th International Emmy Award. By 2018, the series was the most-watched non-English-language series and one of the most-watched series overall on Netflix.
