Nick Cannon, singer-songwriter Robin Thicke, television and radio personality Jenny McCarthy, actor and comedian Ken Jeong, and recording artist Nicole Scherzinger will all return as host and panelists. The panelists also will again compete for the Golden Ear during the season. Guest panelists will include Leslie Jordan, Joel McHale, will.i.am, and Cheryl Hines.
The season will feature two groups, Group A and Group B. For the first time in the show’s history, the winner of each group will face-off against each other in the season finale episode. Wild cards, a concept introduced in the previous season, will also return, being added to each group throughout the season to compete for the “Golden Mask” trophy themselves. The contestants in this season are reported to have a combined 85 Grammy nominations, 27 Grammy wins, 12 Emmy nominations, 12 Razzie Award nominations, three Academy Award nominations, two Super Bowl appearances, and two lifetime achievement awards.
“Born This Way” is a song by American singer Lady Gaga, and the lead single from her second studio album of the same name. Written by Gaga and Jeppe Laursen, who produced it along with Fernando Garibay and DJ White Shadow, the track was developed while Gaga was on the road with The Monster Ball Tour. Inspired by 1990s music which empowered women and the LGBT community, Gaga explained that “Born This Way” was her freedom song. She sang part of the chorus at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in 2010 and announced the song as the lead single from the album, released on February 11, 2011.
