The Great Season 2 Hulu
The Great is an American streaming television series loosely based on the rise to power of Catherine the Great, Empress of All Russia. All ten episodes of the first season were released on Hulu on May 15, 2020. In July 2020, Hulu renewed the series for a second season which is scheduled for release on November 19, 2021.
The series is a satirical, comedic drama about Catherine the Great’s accession from outsider to the longest reigning female ruler in Russia’s history. It is an anachronistic story of an idealistic, romantic young girl, who arrives in Russia for an arranged marriage to the mercurial Emperor Peter. Hoping for love and sunshine, she finds instead a dangerous, depraved, backward world that she resolves to change. All she has to do is k— her husband, beat the church, baffle the military, and get the court onside.
