The Gilded Age Season 1 finale
The Gilded Age is a historical drama television series created by Julian Fellowes (creator and writer of Downton Abbey) for HBO that is set in the United States during the Gilded Age, known as the boom years of 1880s New York City. It is executive produced by David Crockett, Michael Engler, Julian Fellowes, Gareth Neame, and Salli Richardson-Whitfield. The nine-episode series premiered on January 24, 2022.
The series begins in 1882 with young Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson) moving from rural Pennsylvania to New York City after the death of her father to live with her thoroughly old money aunts Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) and Ada Brook (Cynthia Nixon). Accompanied by aspiring writer Peggy Scott (Denée Benton), Marian becomes enmeshed in a social war between one of her aunts, and her extremely rich neighbors, a ruthless railroad tycoon and his ambitious wife, George (Morgan Spector) and Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon).
