Marcel the Shell with Shoes On is an American live-action/animated coming-of-age mockumentary comedy film directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp, the director of the acclaimed documentary Fraud, in his feature directorial debut. The screenplay is written by Fleischer-Camp, Nick Paley, and Jenny Slate, based on a story the three of them created with Elisabeth Holm. It is based on the short films of the same name created and uploaded to YouTube by Fleischer-Camp in 2010.
This animated comedy film had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival on September 3, 2021. It is set to be released in select US theaters on June 24, 2022, by A24.
