Candy is an American c–me drama streaming television miniseries created by Nick Antosca and Robin Veith. Lead star Jessica Biel, who plays the titular role Candy, is one of the executive producers of the series, along with Nick Antosca, Alex Hedlund, Michelle Purple, Michael Uppendahl, and Robin Veith. Candy is scheduled to premiere on May 9, 2022, on Hulu. Episodes will roll out daily through Friday, May 13.
The series tells the story of Candy Montgomery, a 1980 housewife and mother who did everything right – good husband, two kids, nice house, even the careful planning and execution of transgressions – but when the pressure of conformity builds within her, her actions scream for just a bit of freedom. Candy is based on the real-life Candy Montgomery, who was accused of brutally m–dering her best friend, Betty Gore (played by Melanie Lynskey) in 1980s Texas.
