The Good Doctor is an American medical drama television series developed for ABC by David Shore, based on the South Korean series of the same name. Shore serves as showrunner while Daniel Dae Kim, who bought the rights for his production company, serves as one of the executive producers of the show. The Good Doctor premiered on September 25, 2017. ABC renewed the series through to the seventh and final season, which premiered on February 20, 2024.
The series centers on Dr. Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, who continues to use his extraordinary medical gifts at St. Bonaventure Hospital’s surgical unit. In Season 7, Shaun and Lea navigate their roles as parents to their baby, Steve. Shaun goes back to work at the hospital and tries to achieve work-life balance.
