Madonna turns 60 today, August 16, and she’s getting greetings from all over the world.
In celebration of her birthday, Madonna shared the video of her special performance from this year’s Met Gala in New York last May. It was also her way of way of giving thanks to the donors on her Birthday Fundraiser which aims to nurture vulnerable children in Malawi.
The Met Gala or Met Ball is an annual fundraising gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Madonna, who was born Madonna Louise Ciccone on August 16, 1958, posted a video clip of her Met Gala 2018 performance on Twitter and Instagram with the following message: “In celebration of my birthday and as a “thank you” for all your donations on my Birthday Fundraiser, I wanted to share a very special performance from this year’s Met Gala … #celebrate #raisingmalawi #homeofhope #metgala #likeaprayer #ncrfilms #dannytull”.
The Queen of Pop, Madonna, asked her fans to check on her YouTube page (channel) and to enjoy the entire performance.
Although Madonna’s performance at the Met Gala was the toast of town a few months back, no official video was released to the public.
Videos of Madonna’s Met Gala 2018 performance has been posted by other people on YouTube before, but they were mostly recorded via mobile devices.

Madonna (age 60), performed ‘Like A Prayer’, ‘Beautiful Game’, and ‘Hallelujah‘. She initially wore a monk’s habit at the start of her performance and was flanked by numerous backup singers who were also dressed up as monks.
Backup dancers take off Madonna’s monk habit a few minutes into the act, which then reveals her medieval-type clothing underneath.
There was a lot of dramatic moments in Madonna’s special performance, a perfect fit for the lavish Met Gala itself.
Like wine, Madonna’s voice has aged well. She tackled the songs like only a seasoned performer can.
With the choice of songs, the look, her backup singers and dancers in monk’s robes, the props and all; Madonna’s MET Gala 2018 performance was like a religious experience, something which she obviously wanted to achieve.
