Season 24 of The Bachelor premiered January 6, 2020, featuring Peter Weber (age 28), a Delta Air Lines pilot from Westlake Village, California. Weber is the third placer on The Bachelorette (Season 15) featuring Hannah Brown.

During the reunion episode of Season 6 of Bachelor in Paradise on September 17, 2019, Peter Weber was announced as the next Bachelor by host Chris Harrison. Weber was chosen over his other popular castmates Tyler Cameron and Mike Johnson.

The initial list of contestants were announced on the show’s social media pages, where it was revealed that beauty queens Alayah Benavidez, Hannah Ann Sluss, Kelsey Weier, Victoria Paul and Maurissa Gunn were contestants. Of those five, Benavidez was crowned Miss United States 2016 while the rest competed in Miss USA division pageants. The cast also includes Madison Prewett, the daughter of Auburn Tigers men’s basketball assistant coach and director of operations Chad Prewett.

Season 24 initially filmed in Cleveland, Ohio and Costa Rica but will include visits to Chile and Peru. Weber reportedly suffered a minor facial injury while filming in Costa Rica.

The Bachelor is an American dating and relationship reality TV series that debuted on March 25, 2002, on ABC. Its success has resulted in several spin-offs including The Bachelorette, Bachelor Pad, The Bachelor Canada, Bachelor in Paradise, Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise, The Bachelor Winter Games, and The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart. The show is hosted by Chris Harrison.

After 23 seasons, only two winners are still together with the season’s Bachelor. Sean Lowe of The Bachelor 2013 (Season 17) married the season winner Catherine Giudici in 2014. The couple are still together and have 3 children. The Bachelor 2019 Colton Underwood and winner Cassie Randolph celebrated their first anniversary on November 15, 2019, and are still together as of January 2020.

Two bachelors ended up marrying the runner-up of the season, instead of the winner. The Bachelor 2009 Jason Mesnick ended up marrying runner-up Melissa Rycroft in 2010 and the couple now have a daughter (born 2013). Meanwhile, The Bachelor 2018 Arie Luyendyk Jr. ended up with runner-up Lauren Burnham, whom he married in 2019. In May 2019, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, Alessi Ren.
