Aliana Jester from Florida and YZthaSinger from St. Louis, Missouri sang a cover of “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” by Meghan Trainor (feat. John Legend) during the Hollywood Week – Duets round on American Idol 2020 (Season 18).
The pair bonded outright and everyone noticed their chemistry during the rehearsals. And while YZthaSinger is single, Aliana has a boyfriend of two years. YZthaSinger said he would definitely pursue her if she was single, but as of now, he does not want to step on nobody’s toes.
Aliana and YZthaSinger’s sweet chemistry shone through during their performance. Judge Katy Perry was almost giggling as she watched them sing while Lionel Richie thought the new pair are more than friends, judging from their closeness on stage.
Luke Bryan said, “You guys put on a mini show and that’s really tough to do. Your first harmonies were really, really tasteful. Some of them wavered a little bit into the song. But then I think that was when YZ was holding your hand a lot. So I’ll give it some slack on that. You worked great together and you’re both going through to the next round.”

“Like I’m Gonna Lose You” is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor featuring American singer John Legend. It is the fourth and final single from Trainor’s debut major-label studio album Title (2015). The song peaked at number eight on both the Billboard Hot 100, and the Canadian Hot 100, becoming Trainor’s third top 10 single in both countries. It was certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA for shipments in excess of four million copies.
American Idol Season 18 premiered at 8PM, February 16, 2020 on ABC television and will air Sundays and Mondays at 8/7c until the live shows. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, filming of American Idol is temporarily suspended and the production will assess things on a weekly basis.
Ryan Seacrest continues his role as the show’s host and Bobby Bones returns as the in-house mentor. Despite budget cuts, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie come back as judges for their third season of the series.
