Damien O’Brien (age 34), a personal trainer by day but a magician by heart, performed a mind-boggling routine during the auditions round on Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 14).
With just a cellphone and the borrowed credit card of judge David Walliams as props, Damien managed to amaze the audience and the BGT judges with a smoothly executed magic trick. Damien asked each of the judges to give memorable specific numbers. He asked David Walliams to type those numbers on the cellphone’s calculator, multiply them and then divide the resulting number with Walliams banking PIN number. What happened afterwards is something that shocked everyone, most especially Simon Cowell.
Damien’s incredible performance earned a standing ovation from the audience and from the BGT judges. He got 4 YES votes from the judges and advanced to the next round of the competition.

Simon Cowell thinks Damien is unbelievably talented. “I loved your presentation. I think you’re very cool, very relevant. I think people are gonna really like you. I really liked you, that was amazing.”
Alesha Dixon said she could tell that Damien was super nervous. “But you handled it so well and the payoff was fantastic. Well done.”
David Walliams said Damien created something totally new and modern, something which he appreciates because magic can sometimes feel “a bit old-fashioned.”
Amanda Holden voted YES and so did the other judges, advancing Damien to the next round.
Britain’s Got Talent (aka BGT) is a televised British talent show competition, and part of the global Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell. It is hosted by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly (also known as Ant and Dec), and produced by both Thames (formerly Talkback Thames) and Syco Entertainment, distributed by Fremantle, and broadcast on ITV every year. The show premiered on June 9, 2007 following the success of America’s Got Talent the previous year.
Every year, contestants of any age can audition for the contest with whatever talent they wish to demonstrate. Auditionees seek to impress a panel of judges – at present, consisting of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams – in order to secure a place in the live rounds of BGT. The winner gets a cash prize and a place within that year’s performances for the Royal Variety Performance before members of the British Royal Family.
Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 14) will air in two parts, the first in April 2020 with pre-recorded audition episodes, while the second containing the live rounds to be aired at a later date. The series was split into two parts because of the Covid-19 pandemic or coronavirus outbreak and the resulting lockdown issued by the British government.
