Falling follows John Peterson (Viggo Mortensen), a gay man whose conservative and homophobic father Willis (Lance Henriksen) starts to exhibit symptoms of dementia, forcing him to sell the family farm and move to Los Angeles to live with John and his husband Eric (Terry Chen).
This 2020 drama film is written and directed by Viggo Mortensen in his feature directorial debut. Falling also stars Sverrir Gudnason, Laura Linney, Hannah Gross and David Cronenberg.

Falling is produced by Viggo Mortensen, Daniel Bekerman and Chris Curling. It had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2020. It also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2020, where it received a nomination for Best Canadian Feature Film. Falling is scheduled to be released by Modern Films in the United Kingdom on December 4, 2020.
Mortensen had not originally intended to play a role in the film, but he had to be part of the cast, to be able to secure production funding.
