After being mishandled by a Zava employee, the A.I. called NEXT escapes the confined servers of its home company and gains internet access.
When Ethan’s (Evan Whitten) bullying intensifies, he reveals that Iliza (Olenka Wos Kimball) has been persuading him to seek revenge. Concerned about her son, Shea (Fernanda Andrade) recruits Paul (John Slattery) and her co-workers C.M. (Michael Mosley), Gina (Eve Harlow) and Ben (Aaron Moten), to help use Ethan’s connection with Iliza to track NEXT’s possible location. Meanwhile, Paul tries to rekindle his relationship with his daughter, Abby (Elizabeth Cappuccino), and grapples with the onset of his health condition.

The series is a fact-based thriller about the emergence of a deadly, rogue artificial intelligence that combines pulse-pounding action with a layered examination of how technology is invading our lives.
Emmy Award nominee John Slattery (“Mad Men”) stars as a Silicon Valley pioneer, who discovers that one of his own creations – a powerful A.I. – might spell global catastrophe. He teams up with cybercrime agent (Fernanda Andrade) to fight a villain unlike anything we’ve ever seen.
Next was initially set to debut as a mid-season entry during the 2019-20 United States TV season. But it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and premiered on October 6, 2020.
