I want to talk a bit about Rio because I was really locked in on your stage presence and your connection with the song. And you just have your own unique way of performing. And I did see how incredible Casme is, but I can’t find any reason why you (talking to John Legend) couldn’t pick Rio and be exactly right about it too. So I’m going to accept my fine from NBC and I’m not gonna help you on that.

I do not feel like I’m in a singing competition setting right now. I feel like I’m at the Grammys. Both of you are so natural. I mean, it was very equally matched.
Rio, your voice is stunning, your stage presence, your style, everything was just so incredible.
Casmè, from the moment the light flashed, I was like a zombie, like, just staring at you. I mean, it’s almost like you were a genie locked away and someone let you out. The dancing, like the swagging, everything was incredible.

I think this was the most thoroughly engrossing, joyful, well-put together performance we’ve seen in the battles of any of the artists on any team. It was just beautiful.
Casme is who she is. She walks in the room like that. And I talked to Rio about you got to be able to match that. You’ve got to match that energy. And he really did, you looked completely in control. You looked like you were having so much fun. You have wonderful tone. You have runs, you have falsetto. You have all these things, and it just felt like you belonged up here and it was completely natural and felt so good.
Casme, everything everyone’s been saying about you is because you are who you are. We talked a lot about your presence, but your voice is wonderful. It’s flawless. It’s so full. You were just completely on point as a vocalist today.
On choosing Casme: Everyone loves Casme. Her energy is so infectious. She’s so soulful and charming. Her presence on stage is just superstar quality.

Rio, you have such great tone. The melodies you would go for and the little falsetto thing. I love your voice, but there are few people in this world that were born to be on a stage, and Casme, you’re like, I mean, I’m a very comfortable, confident person in my own skin. But, like, you made me seem not. And I’m extremely comfortable, probably too comfortable. But how into the song you are, and how happy you are in the moment, I was like, “Diana Ross is here.” I think that you’re one that everybody should be worried about, honestly.
