Limbo tells the story of a group of new refugees who are staying on a fictional remote Scottish island as they await the results of their asylum claims. This British comedy-drama film is an offbeat observation of the refugee experience. Limbo is written and directed by filmmaker Ben Sharrock, who directed the acclaimed and multi-awarded film Pikadero.

Limbo 2021
Limbo is produced by Angus Lamont and Irune Gurtubai. The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2020. It was named as an Official Selection of the 2020 Cannes Film Festival, but was not screened due to the cancellation of the physical festival in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Limbo will be released in select US theaters on April 30, 2021 and the United Kingdom on July 30, 2021.
The film has bagged the British Independent Film Award – Breakthrough Producer for Irune Gurtubai at the British Independent Film Awards. Limbo won three awards at the Cairo International Film Festival, namely FIPRESCI Prize – Best Film, Golden Pyramid – Best Film, and Henry Barakat Award for Best Artistic Contribution. At the International Film Festival & Awards Macao, the film won Best Film and Best Film – International Competition. The film won the Youth Jury Award for Ben Shamrock at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. Limbo also garnered two BAFTA Awards nomination, namely Outstanding British Film of the Year and Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director, or Producer.
