After the death of its reigning emperor, the Holy Roman Empire plummets into chaos while feuding brothers King Wenceslas of Czech and King Sigismund of Hungary battled for control of the empty throne. Daring and righteous mercenary leader Jan Zizka (Ben Foster) is soon hired by Lord Boresh (Michael Caine) to k–nap the powerful Lord Rosenberg’s (Til Schweiger) fiancée, Lady Katherine (Sophie Lowe), to prevent Rosenberg’s rise to power alongside the corrupt King Sigismund. As Katherine becomes caught in a dangerous political game between the monarchs, Jan falls in love with her strong spirit and dedication to saving the people.

Medieval 2022
Medieval, aka Jan Žižka or Warrior of God, is an English-language Czech action historical drama film directed by Petr Jákl (Akte Kajínek, Ghoul). The screenplay is also by Petr Jákl, from a story by Petr Jakl Sr., Kevin Bernhardt, and Petr Bok, based on the works of writers Marek Dobes and Michal Petrus. Medieval is scheduled to be released in select US theaters on September 9, 2022, then on VOD on October 31, 2022.
It is inspired by the true story of Jan Žižka, considered as one of history’s greatest warriors. The film is set prior to the Hussite Wars (1419-1434), when Žižka was young. Medieval tells the story of how Žižka became a famous Bohemian military commander who never lost a battle.
Touted as the most expensive Czech film ever made, Medieval is produced by Kevin Bernhardt, Cassian Elwes, and Petr Jakl. It stars Ben Foster, Michael Caine, Sophie Lowe, Til Schweiger, Matthew Goode, and William Moseley.
