Todd Tilghman (age 41) from Mississippi performs Travis Tritt’s “Anymore” against Cam Spinks from Alabama singing Lee Brice’s “Rumor” during The Knockouts round on The Voice 2020 (Season 18).
John Legend did not pick a winner but his comments tended to favor Pastor Todd Tilghman for letting him feel in the Spirit, saying Todd must have the same effect on the folks in church. Nick Jonas said Todd brought them to Church with his performance but he also thinks Cam will be a massive star someday and volunteered to write songs for him. However, Nick picked Todd as the winner of the Knockout. Kelly Clarkson said Cam does not give his voice enough credit to have room in a song while Todd was praised for his song selection.
Coach Blake Shelton said that Cam was a bit ahead of Todd in the rehearsal but then Todd found a way to be better in the Knockout compared to his rehearsal. Blake picked Todd Tilghman as the winner, based on his current performance in the Knockout.

“Rumor” is the second single from Brice’s self-titled studio album, released to radio in July 2018. It peaked at number 8 on Billboard’s US Hot Country Songs and at number 81 on US Billboard Hot 100.
John Legend said Cam had a lovely voice but had a few pitch problems. As to Todd, John commented, “I was imagining being at your church. I was thinking about how effective you must be in getting the folks in church in the Spirit. And I felt it!”
Nick Jonas said that Todd and his Dad, who was also a pastor, have similar voices. “It’s very powerful and you certainly brought us to church with that performance,” he said. As to Cam, Nick said he’s a big fan and loves his vibe. Nick thinks he will be a massive star and would be happy to write songs for him at some point in time. But Nick picked Pastor Todd as the winner of the Knockout.
Kelly Clarkson thinks Cam has something really cool about his voice. She said, “For me personally, I don’t feel like you give your voice enough credit to have room in a song. I just think to have a little more space for you.” For Todd, Kelly said, “I’ll say points on song selection.”
Coach Blake Shelton said, “Cam, in our rehearsal, you had your foot on the gas just a little bit more, where, on the flip side, Todd came out here, and he found a way to push the gas just a little bit more than he did in the rehearsal… He’s literally an animal that feeds off of energy. Right now he’s trying not to smile, ’cause he’s just a happy guy. It’s amazing.” Blake picked Todd Tilghman as the winner of the knockout.
Season 18 of The Voice premiered at 8PM on February 24, 2020 on NBC and will air Mondays at 8 PM. John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton returned as coaches for their third, fifth and eighteenth seasons, respectively. Nick Jonas joined the panel as a new coach, replacing Gwen Stefani. Meanwhile, Carson Daly returned for his eighteenth season as host.
On the question of whether or not The Voice Season 18 will continue airing amid the coronavirus pandemic, John Legend said that the program have pre-taped shows until the end of April. Whether the three weeks of planned live shows will push through in May is still unknown at this point. John said in his interview with Billboard that everybody’s playing things by ear because no one knows “where the world’s going to be in May.”
